This is now what Calico County USED to be. Home cooking with generous portions. We had a really excellent experience today for a late lunch/early supper. HAND-Breaded chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and a roll. Also, 2 BONELESS pork chops, fried potatoes and onions, turnip greens and a roll. We took boxes home with a pork chop, about one-third of the chicken fried steak, 2 rolls and about half the mashed potatoes/gravy and the green beans. Now, the later was pre-planned to leave room for our fried pies - blueberry and peach.  Besides the wonderful food, we had very attentive service. One of our more relaxed and enjoyable dining experiences of late.

If you're looking for homemade down home country cooking, then this is your place!  We've been here a couple times now.  The first time, I ordered the hot beef, which is what I grew up calling either an open faced beef sandwich or a hot brown.  Bread on bottom, then topped with mashed potatoes, home cooked pot roast and covered in brown gravy.  Such  delicious comfort food!   The next time we went for breakfast (which is served 24/7 by the way).  The omelet I ordered was huge, but way too cheesy for my liking.  The biscuits are softer than I typically like and the pancakes were just okay.   The coffee was perfectly strong.  Overall I enjoy this place and wish I could go back again and again.

While many of us do our best to eat healthily, there are times to reward ourselves, or just Need comfort food. For me, this means either meatloaf or chicken fried steak. While the former is fairly easy to find decent plates of, the latter is difficult. The reason I say that is because most places utilize frozen pre-made patties.  Bob & Wanda's however, makes everything from scratch, and that makes a massive improvement in flavor. I discovered this gem while leaving Van Buren one evening while meeting a friend to catch up over dinner. I can safely say this is a favorite of mine, and receives a rare 5 out of 5 from me!

Unless you are from Barling AR.
You can seat at the table till the cows come home!
I do understand that if the Restaurant is busy, one has to wait a little longer, but that was not the case, several waitresses walked by looking straight into my eyes and just ignored me.
One waitress was even standing bored in a corner playing with her phone!!

After, I am not kidding; about 25 minutes I walked out with an noticeable comment! The all looked at me like I was from another Planet!
Yeap! I see it now in near future we even have to order lunch on line!

Stopped thru here with the crew. A throw back eatery to the 70s and 60s. Lots of memorabilia and old charm. Waitresses were friendly. The food was average and a little overpriced for the servings. Not much else to share here...
